Well, my homeschool blogger (HSB) blog is back. It seems it was deleted accidentally. I got an e-mail from one of the administrators. She explained that HSB was needing to eliminate abandoned blogs to free up some space on their software. She looked at information they keep which listed the last activity on my blog as October 1st. This information, she's discovered, isn't reliable because I had last posted Feb 21st.
She also mentioned a note and list of the blogs to be deleted was posted on HSB's web site:
The Company Porch. I told her, although it might be a little more time consuming, an e-mail to the blog owner before deletion would be a great idea to avoid this kind of mistake in the future. I did see a note about blogs being deleted, but didn't think mine was in jeopardy. Also, I don't have a lot of extra time to read the HSB Company Porch blog daily. Between homeschooling, operating a web site, and blogging -- I have just about all I can handle.
Actually, I've been thinking about doing something different with my blog for some time and this has made me revisit that decision. Free hosts just don't do very well at bringing traffic to one's blog. Plus, I need a store to sell the many e-books I'm working on. I may use e-Christian as a host to house both my blog and e-bookstore thereby killing two birds with one stone so to speak. Also, it has been extremely time-consuming to switch all my blogrolls, etc. over to the HSB blog. I'm not sure it's really worth it.
Never-the-less, I'm grateful my blog is back so that I can copy what I'd posted since I switched from blogger. I was in panic-mode there for a while when I thought that content was lost forever. And, I link to the blog from multiple places, which caused a lot of confusion for a lot of people and could even have hurt my site rankings (the search engines don't like broken links). But, all is well now. And, if and when I make another change you all will be the first to know it!!
Until we meet in the teachers' lounge again,
